Stress

What is it?

Stress is a response to pressure, change, or difficult circumstances. It can affect your body, thoughts, feelings, and behavior. Ongoing stress may make everyday life harder to manage.

Types and experiences

Stress may be brief and linked to a particular event, recur during demanding periods, or persist when pressures continue over time.

Causes and contributing factors

Work, finances, caregiving, illness, relationship difficulties, and major life changes can all contribute. What feels manageable varies from person to person.

Signs and when to seek support

You may notice tension, headaches, irritability, racing thoughts, difficulty concentrating, or changes in sleep. Seek support when stress feels overwhelming or interferes with daily life.
